Palo Alto falls short in girls lacrosse opener

The Palo Alto High girls lacrosse opened the season Wed falling to visiting Monte Vista-Danville, 14-4.

The Mustangs took a 2-0 lead in the 1st minute before Palo Alto countered with a score from junior Ellen Goncher, off an assist by senior Kaitlin Chiu.

Monte Vista scored again, but Palo Alto immediately responded with a goal by sophomore Abigail Ramsey, driving through the right crease to close the gap in the 1st 5 mins. of the game.

Furthermore Monte Vista pulled away with next 7 goals before Goncher scored again with 33 seconds left in the 1st half to make it 10-3 at the half.

Junior Madeline Hare also caused a turnover and junior goalie Mattie Orloff registered twelve saves.
